Garbhadhana Sanskar or Conception Ceremony

Garbhadhana Sanskar or Conception Ceremony is considered the first of the sixteen sacraments of Hinduism. Through this, the process of life starts in the universe. Religiously, the main purpose and first duty of household life is considered to be progeny. This is also the rule of creation that not only in human beings but in all living beings, offspring are born from the union of males and females. But for the generation of best children, our forefathers have established some rules and regulations from their experiences, which can also be seen in Hindu scriptures.

By following these rules, doing the work necessary for the birth of a child according to the law is called Garbhdhan Sanskar. It is believed that as soon as there is a union between a man and a woman, the soul is born and the soul takes its place in the woman’s womb. Through Garbhadhan Sanskar, good qualities are improved in the creature by removing the disorders of its previous birth. Overall, Garbhadhan Sanskar is performed to remove the impurity related to the seed and womb.

General Description

The Garbhadhan Sanskar ceremony is an important ritual in Hindu culture that is believed to help ensure a successful pregnancy and the birth of a healthy and virtuous child. The ceremony is typically performed by the husband and wife together, and it involves the recitation of mantras, the offering of puja (prayers and offerings), and the use of various other religious rituals and symbols. During the ceremony, the couple may also make a vow to follow certain religious practices and to raise their child according to the teachings of their faith. They may also seek the blessings of the gods and goddesses for a healthy pregnancy and the safe delivery of their child.

In some traditions, the Garbhadhan Sanskar ceremony may also involve the use of sacred objects or symbols, such as yantras (geometric diagrams), malas (prayer beads), or other items that are believed to have special powers or significance. The ceremony may be conducted by a priest or other religious leader, or it may be performed by the couple themselves. Overall, the Garbhadhan Sanskar ceremony is an important ritual in Hindu culture that is believed to help ensure the successful conception and birth of a child, and to lay the foundation for a strong and virtuous life.

Few Rules to Remember –

In order to have a child, there should be intercourse between a man and a woman in the season itself. Men should avoid women. Naturally, the menstrual period in women is considered to last for 16 days. In these, for the first four to five days, men and women should not have intercourse at all. Having sexual intercourse in this condition can cause serious diseases. Religiously, conception should not be done even on the eleventh and thirteenth day. On other days you can perform garbhadhana samskara.

It is advised to avoid women’s intercourse on Ashtami, Chaturdashi, Poorvmasi, Amavasya, and festival nights. Garbhadhan Sanskar can be performed on the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, twelfth, fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth night of Rajo-Darshan. It is believed that after taking a ritual bath, a woman should see her ideal form. That is, the woman who wants to have a child like a great man, should see the picture, etc. of that great man after Ritusnanan and think about him. The third part of the night is considered best for conception.

On the day of ‘Garbhadhan’, in the morning Ganeshji should be duly worshiped with Nandi Shraddha, etc. should be performed. You should take the blessings of your family deities and ancestors. At the time of ‘conception’, one should make a resolution and prayer before conception and invite the best soul by appealing. The purer the mood and atmosphere of the couple at the time of ‘conception’, the stronger will be the possibility of the best soul entering the womb. Nights have different importance in the conception ceremony. If conception takes place on even nights, then the chances of a son being born are more. When conception takes place on odd nights then the chances of giving birth to a girl child are more. The conception that takes place on the 16th night is considered to be the best son.

Today, in the blind race of modernization and the flow of western culture, we have badly neglected the ‘conception’ ritual. At present, doing ‘conception’ as a ritual has disappeared, whose serious side effects are coming to the fore. Doing ‘conception’ without the proper method and best time causes the birth of poor and diseased children.

A healthy, obedient, characterful child is like God’s boon can be born only when ‘conception’ is done in the proper way and according to the rules prescribed by the scriptures, for more information and guidance from an experienced pandit, you can contact us for more information..!! ,
